ABOUT HIM
Socks is a gorgeous, eye catching, chromed out Palomino Stallion. He has outstanding conformation including great hooves, big sloped shoulder, big hip, and proper hock angles. He has a BIG motor and a lengthy stride allowing him the ability to air quick speed and an uncanny natural rate ability which gives him a different, but out of this world barrel turn. He strokes across the pen at full speed and as soon as his shoulder passes the barrel, he throws it all on his hind quarters. Using his front end to drag his hind end around the barrel in one quick smooth swoop. This allows him to keep his momentum around and between the barrels. He gets in and out of a barrel turn quicker than any horse I have ever had the pleasure to throw a leg over. A barrel turn on him is the absolute best feeling I have ever known on this earth, it feels like we are ice skating around the barrels. Fast and smooth.

 

Some of the special qualities Socks has are his kind, gentle mannerisms, his HUGE heart, and willingness to please. I cant tell you how many times people have been stalled next to us and they over hear us talking about him being a stud muffin. People are blown away and say “Wow I had no idea he was a stud, he has been so good all weekend.” When we are working he is all business, and gives you 120% every single time.

 

 

Everyone thinks they need a FirewaterTaCorona- StreakJet horse to win in barrel racing. The Driftwood bloodline is an older but outstanding bloodline that still exists in some of the best horse flesh out there today.  I always say Mr FirstDownAndGold is the perfect mix of cow and race. I believe this mix is why he has a mind second to none, an insane amount of athleticism, and can handle the pressures of breeding, training, and racing like its no biggie. What’s even more exciting is he seems to be passing all of these traits to his foals. His 4 year old is a Clone of Socks in both attitude, and athletic ability. Which makes me so excited for the future of these foals.

 

Some may be concerned about Socks Short cow horse build. To address that concern, all of his foals are outgrowing him, even those out of mares shorter than Socks. His 4 year old colt is out of a 14.3 hand mare and he stands at 15.3 hands tall.  I believe physically, Socks took after the cow side of his pedigree and he is throwing size from his top side which I think is a great thing. My Dad and I have always said Socks would be absolutely unbeatable if he were a hand taller. -Sired by Royal Always who sired World Champions with 1+ Million in earnings) Royal Always is a full brother to Royal Quick Dash ( SI 101, and 21+ Million in earnings) Royal Quick Dash was also an All American Futurity Winner.

-His Grand Sire First Down Dash sired 1,163 winners which include 224 stakes winners. He also sired a record six All American Futurity winners. On the race track, First Down Dash had a speed index of 105, won 13 of 15 races, earned $857,256, and was AQHA World Champion in 1987.

-His Great Grand Sire Dash For Cash sired 751 winners, with 131 stakes winners, 880 earners of Registers of Merit, 112 earners of Superiors, and 16 World Champions. On the race track, Dash For Cash had a speed index of 114, achieved 21 wins, and finished 2nd 3 times.

-His Grand Sire Drifts Vaquero, sired by the legendary Orphan Drift (Driftwood Ikes Most Prominent Son). Orphan Drift produced many talented offspring including Race and NCHA money earners. He was also a Top Broodmare Sire. And a phenomenal performer himself.

- The Driftwood bloodline is known for their well balanced conformation, airing quick speed, natural rate, and athletic ability. They have easy trainability, winning at nearly every event, including barrel racing, reining, roping, and cutting.

- The Driftwood line exists in some of the greatest horses today including Nellie Millers horse “Sister” who won the average, and was crowned the World Champion barrel racer in 2010, earning over $308,000 that year. She also went to the 2019 NFR in the #1 spot, earning $154,610 that year.

 

-Another Great example of the Driftwood bloodline is Hailey Kinsels horse, also known as “Sister”. In 2017 it was her first NFR qualification and her horses 2nd year of Rodeo. They Set the arena Record with a 14.11 and ended up second in the World Standings. Also in 2019 they went to the NFR in the #2 spot with earnings of $148,866.
